If you become ill or have an accident, we can arrange short-term respite or health recovery care at one of our homes such as neighbouring Huntleigh Home. We can also assist you in finding in-home healthcare and support services such as meal delivery and laundry. These services are provided on a ‘fee-for-service’ basis, although you may find some of these services can be subsidised by Capital & Coast District Health Board.

Rates, building insurance, ongoing maintenance of your villa, lawns, gardens and security – we’ve got it covered.

We can even arrange cleaning and meal delivery services on a fee-for-service basis.

Of course, the amount we do is up to you. For example, if you’re a bit of a green thumb or enjoy pottering in the garden, you’re welcome to have some plants around your apartment. Many residents nurture glorious potted gardens on their balconies.

Independence and freedom

Enliven’s Huntleigh Apartments has been designed to let you make the most of your retirement years.

At Enliven, we believe retirement is not about slowing down (unless you want to!); it’s about having the time to do the things you enjoy most.

Many Enliven village residents tell us they love having the freedom to travel; all the while knowing their home is secure. Others tell us they love having the time to spend with family and friends or pursuing favourite hobbies and pastimes, while we take care of the hard work like property maintenance. Of course, if you prefer to sit back and relax, Enliven villages and apartments are great places to do that too.

For many retirees, the companionship of others at a similar stage of life is one of the best things about retirement living with Enliven. The boutique size of Huntleigh Apartments and the popular social hub means you’ll get to know your neighbours after just a short while.

Additional services and support

At Enliven we want to make sure you’re really enjoying your retirement, so we offer a range of additional services for a small fee. These services are available on a one-off, short- or long-term basis:

Delicious meals are available for lunch and dinner. These meals can be taken in the shared dining room, next door at Huntleigh Home, or delivered to your apartment. Favourite menu items include the traditional Sunday roasts, refreshing summer salads and delicious desserts. The menu changes regularly and is available from the village coordinator.

A laundry service is available daily for both clothing and linen. Laundry bags are available on request from the village coordinator. We are also able to provide a bed making service through the neighbouring home.

Handyman services are on hand! At Enliven’s retirement apartments we take care of the property maintenance and gardening, so you don’t have to worry. But, if you need additional assistance, such as hanging pictures or moving and securing furniture, our handyman service is available by appointment.

Short-term respite and health recovery care is provided (subject to availability) from Enliven’s Huntleigh Home – adjacent to Huntleigh Apartments. And, if there comes a time that you or your spouse needs extra support, Huntleigh Home offers rest home and hospital level care. Supporting future generations

The icing on the cake is knowing that by purchasing a Huntleigh Apartment you’re supporting a not-for-profit organisation. All the proceeds from the sale of Enliven’s retirement villas are invested back into Enliven services and into services provided by Family Works for vulnerable children and families.

Enliven News

Reverend Merv Jones standing in front of Kandahar Home Chaplain.

Holistic care vital for elder-centred community

Enliven’s Kandahar Home is highlighting the importance of holistic care when it comes to supporting the region’s elders. Kandahar Home and Kandahar Court manager Peter Newman says the strong, positive links between the emotional wellbeing and physical health of older people are now well-established, although physical health is still often the focus of care.

Kelvin keeps up carving passion at Kandahar

For Masterton’s Kelvin Thacker, there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a few hours spent practising bone carving – and moving to a rest home hasn’t changed that one bit. With the support of staff at Enliven’s Kandahar Home, Kelvin has been able to carry on his passion in a specialised hobby area set up especially for him earlier this year.

Enliven encourages seniors to try Tai Chi

Many people agree that Tai Chi is a beautiful art form to watch. But it is also a great form of exercise which offers significant health benefits, especially for seniors. That’s why Enliven positive ageing services is inviting Wellingtonians to come along to its modified Tai Chi classes – and offering first-time participants who attend class on or before March 31st their first session free of charge.

Brightwater Home ‘like one big family’

When Herbie Makene first moved to Enliven’s Brightwater Home in Palmerston North in 2014, he wasn’t sure how he’d cope with the transition to rest home living. But with the support and encouragement of staff and residents at the Enliven home, Herbie says he’s come to embrace Brightwater as his home.
