Enliven’s activity programme in Paraparaumu provides a friendly, relaxed and fun place to socialise and keep active during the day.
Kapiti Activity Programme has been designed for older people, particularly those experiencing health issues, memory loss or dementia. Attendees can engage in a variety of individual, one-to-one and group activities that are designed to stimulate the mind and body.
Each attendee has a personalised activity plans, developed by specialist diversional therapists, that focuses on supporting independence and wellbeing.
Activities may include:
- modified exercise and games to support mobility
- games and puzzles to stimulate the mind
- creative pursuits, such as art, craft and music
- music therapy
- opportunities to build new friendships
- opportunities to reminisce, share old times and rekindle memories
- shared meals including a nutritious lunchtime meal, plus morning and afternoon tea daily.
Kapiti Activity Programme is run from Kapiti Cottage in Paraparaumu. The secure, home-like space has a relaxed and supportive environment, and because of its generous size and set up there is always space to enjoy companionship, activity and laughter, as well as a quiet space away from it all.
Support for carers
Caring for a loved one at home can be demanding and tiring work, both physically and emotionally. As well as providing a nurturing and supportive space for attendees, the Kapiti Activity Programme also provides carers with a chance to take a break and focus on their own wellbeing.
