Reevedon Home in Levin has received the highest tick of approval in rest home care.

The Enliven home was recently awarded a four-year certification from the Ministry of Health – this is the maximum certification period offered by the ministry and indicates that Reevedon Home is maintaining the highest level of quality in all facets of operation. 

Reevedon Home manager Jenny Hodgen says the achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the home’s staff.

“Reevedon is a very special home with staff who provide excellent care.

“I know all of us here are proud to be part of an organisation that puts residents at the centre of everything we do, and to be officially recognised for it is just the icing on the cake.”

Reevedon Home and Village is operated by Enliven, part of the not-for-profit organisation Presbyterian Support Central, and offers independent retirement living, rest home care, short-term respite and a day programme.

Both Reevedon Home and sister-home, Levin Home for War Veterans on Prouse Street, follow Enliven’s elder-centred philosophy, which is based on the internationally-recognised Eden Alternative care model.

The Enliven philosophy emphasises the importance of meaningful activity, independence and companionship in elders’ lives, as well as contact with animals and nature, and regular interaction with children.

“To offer excellent care, you have to move beyond practical support to look at people as individuals with their own unique personalities and skills,” says Jenny.

“That involves building trust with residents and their families, and working with residents to help them to live their best lives.”
